Position Overview:
  • Insight Contracting is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team supporting residential and commercial properties throughout the Columbia area.
  • This position is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting tasks across multiple trades. The successful candidate will have experience in at least two of the following areas: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, or appliance repair. This role requires the ability to work independently while coordinating with fellow technicians, office staff, and tenants to provide timely, high-quality maintenance services.
  • Successful candidates will likely have experience in property maintenance, construction, remodeling, or related trades and enjoy solving problems in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair maintenance issues involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, appliances, and other building systems within the employee's areas of expertise.
  • Respond to maintenance work orders, communicate with tenants, and complete repairs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participate in the company's emergency maintenance rotation and assist with seasonal property maintenance, including snow removal when required.
  • Maintain organized company vehicles, work areas, tools, equipment, and inventory of maintenance supplies.
  • Accurately document completed work using the company's mobile service-tracking application and follow company documentation and vehicle tracking procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with management, tenants, vendors, and fellow employees while collaborating to complete maintenance projects efficiently.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have:
  • Two or more years of experience in at least two of the following areas: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, or appliance repair preferred.
  • Working knowledge of residential and commercial maintenance practices and construction safety standards.
  • Ability to safely operate common hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a corporate-insurable driving record.

Physical Requirements:
  • This position includes work in occupied residential units, commercial properties, construction sites, and outdoor environments.
  • Duties involve climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 80 pounds, operating hand and power tools, and performing repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Employees may work in a variety of weather conditions and participate in an on-call emergency maintenance rotation.
